A new trans-disciplinary, comparative study reveals key risks posed by thawing Arctic permafrost.
The ILLUQ 2024 summer field work kicked off with an expedition to the Herschel Island / Qikiqtaruk in the Yukon coast in Canada.
We continued our consultation meetings in Svalbard. This time in collaboration with our sister projects ICEBERG and ArcSolution.
Consultations in the local communities form a large part of ILLUQ activities. In summer 2024, we visited Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, and Aklavik as part of the ILLUQ project’s outreach and collaboration efforts.
A big part of our research takes place in the Arctic in expeditions. Our researchers visit local communties in Western Greenland, Svalbard and in the Canadian Arctic.
Between June 16-20, 2024 ILLUQ presented its upcoming activities at the ICOP2024 in Whitehorse, Canada.
The ILLUQ kick-off meeting took place between 11-15 March 2024 in the magnificent setting of the French Alps in Aussois.
ILLUQ is Horizon Europe funded permafrost project that studies the impacts of permafrost thaw to the health (human, animal and environmental), pollution and ecosystem services.
