b.geos is an SME which offers earth observation services. It is a start-up located in Austria, which is specialized in the development of innovative satellite data applications. It provides consulting services for land surface monitoring from for example the Copernicus Sentinel satellites (especially incorporation of SAR data), retrieval algorithm development and training in the field of earth observation. Its founder and managing director, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Annett Bartsch, has many years of experience in applied remote sensing, also as leader of European Space Agency projects and in the development of large scale products for cryosphere monitoring.
b.geos key personell has lead the development of several datasets with circumpolar coverage in the past. This includes characterization of lakes as well as soils. There is extensive experience in processing of SAR data similarly as available from Sentinel-1 - a data source which is of high relevance to achieve the goals of the project. The managing director is also permafrost community representative to the WMO Polar Space Task Group which consists of space agency representatives that coordinate satellite data acquisitions in polar regions.
