Thawing permafrost increases erosion along coasts, rivers, and slopes, threatening infrastructure in Arctic communities.
Objectives
The aim of WP3 is to identify, monitor, and project impacts of permafrost thaw on infrastructure that is critical for the livelihoods of Arctic communities.
The specific objectives of WP3 are to:
O3.1: Collaborate with local stake- and rightsholders to map and monitor permafrost thaw and ground settlement processes in communities
O3.2: Assess vulnerability of critical infrastructure to permafrost thaw
O3.3: Identify potential health risks originating from infrastructure failure O3.4: Catalog critical infrastructure in ILLUQ study areas
O3.5: Simulate the response of permafrost infrastructure to climate change
